10 Tips For Mango Sauce To Increase Revenue

I have just come across a Blog called the Mango Sauce and have enjoyed reading through the many witty posts on offer. Unfortunately, the most recent post is news that the owner plans to quit due to Google Adsense pulling the plug on its advertising revenue.

I thought I’d spend an hour or so researching ways he can get the ad revenue back up so myself, and I’m sure many other’s, can continue reading his witty posts about being an expat in Thailand.

Tip 1 - Install more money making machines!
The worst thing any webmaster can do is put all their money generators in one basket. I know a guy who makes over $12,000 per month from his blog, only $780 is generated from Google Adsense. Check out my Blog Revenue Generators for a head start.

Tip 2 - Offer Reviews
Review other Blogs, products and services in your niche. There are many web sites aimed at the farang community and it isn’t that hard to find them. Look at the companies paying to advertise on other sites, if they are prepared to pay on other’s there’s a good chance they will part with some cash to advertise on yours. If you are going to offer reviews, make sure you at least have a couple already written on your blog so others can see what theirs may look like.

Tip 3 - Offer an advertising package
Offering a promotional package is a great way to drum up some business. A package may include an insert into your email newsletter, a text link that will help them with their search engine rankings for their targeted keywords, a Blog post review, banner etc. etc.

Tip 4 - Sign up with brokers
Companies like Text Link Ad’s and Review Me have tones of daily traffic of webmasters looking to promote their services/site/product. Make sure you’re listed on these, which is free, in order to not miss out on any extra business that can send your way.

Tip 5 - Offer Text Links Direct
Text links are the back bone to SEO, and people in the SEO world know this. You’re site is currently a Page Rank 4, with my experience you should be able to generate at least $10 per link per month, with a max of 10. (Any more than 10 will dilute the link quality, SEO’s know this and will ask you when you sell them) Where to sell them? I’d recommend visiting the Link Sales section over at DP Forums.

Tip 6 - Have an advertising Page on your site!
Create a page on your site that displays details on all your advertising offerings. When the page is up, design a simple logo and add it in a prominent position so visitors can see it.

Tip 7 - Have a contact Page/email!
I wanted to email you this list direct at first, but after I couldn’t find your contact/email I decided to post it here so others could learn from the mistakes so many webmasters make. How would anyone contact you if they wanted to advertise on you’re site?

Tip 8 - If you’re going to monetize, make sure you MONITIZE!
If you are going to monetize you’re blog, make sure their are no empty spaces where you could fill ads. Yes, this is a little annoying for the visitor, however if you have a regular readership and know your content is good, they will forgive you! Slap the ad’s left, right and centre. Seriously, don’t leave any white space, more ad’s the better!

Tip 9 - Carry out some SEO
Some simple SEO techniques installed on your site will increase the visitors, an increase of visitor’s means more people are likely to lick on an ad and generate you revenue or, will allow you to charge more with your advertising rates/media pack. A perfect example is your Title Tag, this is the most valuable area to add your keywords into: No one is going to search for “mango sauce” or “crazy about Bangkok” into Google to find your site. It won’t take long to find a suitable keyword to target that should generate extra traffic using Word Tracker. Once you have chosen your keyword, add it into the title tag, followed by the brand name .ie Mango Sauce. It’s also worth adding the keyword to the Description Tag, Alt Image Tags and in the body text. Don’t forget to follow my 5 SEO tips for Blog posts.

Tip 10 - Spend money to make money
Consider advertising on other blogs in your niche to drive traffic. Run Google Adword’s to drive visitors to your site, using the site selection tool. Have a play with the different ways to generate traffic, learn and take advantage of the techniques that work.

Anyway, Good luck to Mango Sauce, I hope these tips help to increase your revenue so that you can continue writting great posts!

Aside from Wordtracker you can also use for your keyword research the KeywordSpy - a keyword research technology where you can also earn and even surpass what your competitors are making with Google Adwords and Overture. KeywordSpy gives you the key to their success: a good ad-campaign with the right keywords.
