8 mistakes I learned with my first Blog
After running my Blog for 10 months I have noticed a lot of things I would have done differently if I were to start again. Here are my top 8 mistakes that negatively effect user experience, traffic, SEO or I just simply don’t like.
1) Domain structure
I am using /blog rather than hosting the blog on absorbingtheworld.co.uk
2) Blog design
My first design was awful! However I have sorted this out with using one of the most beautiful word press templates - Misty
3) Using a .co.uk domain
I registered .com aswell as .co.uk, however as I only started the blog to up-date family, I didn’t really put much thought into what domain extension to use. Looking back, I should have used the .com as the site isn’t really related to the UK apart from that’s where I’m from.
4) Adding content on other areas of my site instead of adding them onto my Blog. I wish I had added the other content on my site directly on my blog.
5) Not making the most of some great word press plugins
6) Not using enough images in posts
Just lain text makes blog posts boring, an image here and there is all that is needed to spice up a Blog posts!
7) Responding to comments
Responding to comments is a great way to get others involved.
8) Networking with other blogs in my niche

IF you’re going to make mistakes, those are minor. They are also for the most part correctable.
