I came across the Couch Surfing project a few years ago – I even added a profile – but have never had the opportunity to host or stay on any couches as yet.

Martin, a good friend I’ve known for a couple of years now is a different story. He’s what I’d call a Couch Surfing Power User. Martin has had 70-80 people from all walks of life and nationalities stay at his Bangkok apartment and has also stayed on other people’s couches while visiting Japan this year. With this much experience, I decided to whip out the camera and ask him a few questions while I was staying at his place last week.

Whether you are new to the Couch Surfing project or have been considering getting involved, hopefully the tips and advice discussed in the video will give you more of an insight on what the Couch Surfing project is all about.

You can find Martin and his wife Tik’s personal travel blog here. Martin is also on Twitter.

What are your thoughts on the couch surfing project? Have you ever given it a whirl? Will you sign up now you’ve heard the low down from Martin? Got any questions for Martin? Fire away!
