What makes a GREAT restaurant? In my mind, a great restaurant must offer delicious food, a great wine list with wines by the glass, great ambiance and surroundings with great service. All at prices that won’t break the bank!
The Green Tangerine Restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam, ticks all of those boxes and then some. The food is out of this world, the quality of the wine by the glass is excellent, the court yard is great to sit, relax and dine in, the service is top notch and the prices are very reasonable.
Thanks to Chris over at Travel Happy, he sent me a message via Twitter with a link to a page on his site that list his fav restaurants in Hanoi, and on top of the list sat the Green Tangerine Restaurant located on Hang be. Luckily for me, the restaurant is only a stone throw away from our hotel so me and the missus set out to find it. From the front entrance it doesn’t look like much of a restaurant compared to the others located on the same road, however once you walk inside you enter an oasis of calm into a court yard with seating both outside and inside:

The menu features modern french dishes with very creative twists. We opted for the lunch time menu which includes a main plus a desert for an amazing $8.95!!
Here is what we had:

Sliced duck with a herby potato gratin served with red berry sauce. The flavors went so well together!
Ice cream in a waffer basket with summer fruits and a rich sweet sauce – This was amazing!
How good is the Green Tangerine Restaurant? It’s so good we dined there twice in 2 days, and ordered the exact same items and are considering returning tomorrow. It’s superb value and the high quality of food. I just wish there were more restaurants around that were of this quality.
