Okay, here’s such a simple recipe that will transform your butter on toast for life! I promise, if you make this once you’ll always have freshly made garlic butter in your fridge ready to be scooped onto some freshly baked bread.
- 5 to 10 cloves of garlic
- 1 pack of salted butter (get the best butter you can get)
- 2 heaped teaspoons of Oregano
- A few twists of freshly ground black pepper
Take the pack of butter out of the fridge for an hour, so the butter is extra soft. Finely chop your garlic cloves up using a knife. Don’t worry about how neat it looks. Some people recommend adding the garlic to a blender, but trust me, don’t be lazy and chop them up yourself so you end up with little pieces. When spread on toast – it looks better and in my mind, it’s more satisfying.
If you love garlic, as do I, add 10 cloves to 1 packet of butter. If you just want a tang of garlic, add 5 cloves.
Mix the garlic, oregano and black pepper really well with the butter. Add to fridge. Then, for your hard work, pop down the local bakery and buy a freshly made french stick and when home, slap on your home made garlic butter. Enjoy!
If your feeling a little adventerous, fry some pork fillets in your freshly made garlic butter and add to a beuaget. Then add some onion and sage stuffing along with some apple sauce… the best lunch EVER!

Looks lovely but not sure about 10 cloves of garlic.
glad to see your diets going well. love ya. x
True… 10 cloves of garlic does mean it will be really garlic-ly… just how i like it
Just don’t come near me once I’ve eaten a few slices of toast with this butter spread over it
Try roasting a couple of whole heads of garlic. Just cut the top off. Then squeeze the goo, into the butter. Much easier and tastier. mmmmmm
