How to sell a site with maximum force:

As I’m selling my site, I thought I’d list the tasks I carried out in order for the sale to get maximum exposure to a) people who buy web sites and b) people who are based in Thailand who be looking to set up their own business.

Firstly, I created the sale post on the Site Sales section over at Digital Points Forums. It’s free to post and there are many web site buyers who visit here regularly. I decided, like most do, to run the sale as an auction based. Another alternative would have been Site Point, however the charge a fee for listings. The fee is small and I would highly recommend listing your site here if you value your site over $5,000 - Site Point is where the big sites are listed, which means big spenders are lurking around too.

After I made the listing, I wanted to let members who were associated with either Bangkok or Thailand know about the sale. Even if they don’t buy sites themselves, they may know someone who would be interested. I did a search for Bangkok and Thailand, looked who had posted stuff about either and send them a very brief Private Message explaining about the sale with a link to the auction.

I then made a post on this Blog, as I know 60% of my readers are based in South East Asia (Stats via Google Analytics) I also offered Thailand/Bangkok based webmasters a free SEO report, in return for a link to the sale. This can cost me a lot of time, especially if a report takes me at least an hour, and I have 30 blogs take me up on the offer. However, I not only get exposure for the sale of the site, I also have some great content I can post on the Blog which may help others and I’ll also receive some link love and traffic to this blog, which may convert into loyal readers.

The next step I took was to email sites that wrote about Thailand/Bangkok, I appreciate not every Thailand based webmaster reads my Blog, so contacting them direct will make sure they were aware of my offer.

I could have just left the auction running, however drumming up more exposure is sure to increase the amount of potential buyers and hopefully, will increase the sale price too!
