Internet Marketing questions and answers part 2
Here are the rest of the answers to my Internet Marketing Q&A session: Feel free to add any further questions to the post or you can always opt for the free SEO consultation via Skype.
Dan asks: How much effort does it take to get to the top of google?
This depends on a lot of factors, including the competitiveness of the keyword you are targeting, the age of your web site, on-page SEO and the in-bound links you have coming in to your pages. If I was trying to target the keyword Google on this blog, it’s near impossible, however if I tried targeting “Chris Blogs about Thailand and SEO” it would be fairly easy - I would just need authrotive links pointing to my site with that keyword phrase in the anchor text, and tweak my on-site SEO.
Dan also asks: Do you recommend some sort of SEO software like IBP if you have heard of it? Or is it possible to do the SEO well without any optimisation software?
I don’t use any software, just a few on-line tools to make my life easier. keyword tracker for keyword analysis. SEOMoz’s Ranker checker - This tool allows you to find out where you are in the search results for your targeted keyword - This saves a lot of time searching through each individual page. I also rely on Yahoo Site Explorer for site stats and to find out what my competition looks like, including what sites are linking to them. Jim Broylyn also has some great free SEO tools.
Mitchmatch asks: Could you write about SMO - Social Media Optimization, and How to do it? The only thing I know is that SMO is more likely of the SEO - Search Engine Optimization.
I haven’t had much experience with playing with Social Media Optimisation other than social media sites like Digg.com and reddit.com - There’s only so much I can do in a day, so I prefer to keep up with SEO rather than spread my time in other areas of Internet Marketing. If you are serious about learning Social Media Optimisation strategies, I recommend buying SEOMoz’s 55 page guide for $29
Sid asks: I like a real simple and practical guide to earn money online in thailand…300 Euros per month but really reliable.
