January Ramblings

Age 25 – In Thailand rumors have it that during the year when you are 25 years old, you either have a lot of bad luck, or a lot of good luck… With the start of my new business, let’s hope I receive lots of good luck this year!

Every week I have a routine that goes something like this:

Visit Central Chidlom
Go to the top floor and visit the book store
Go over to Ticket Master to find out on the latest shows/concerts
Either do some clothes or kitchen-ware shopping
Go down to the Food hall to buy my weekly grocery shopping
Head over to the Oriental shop to buy some Coconut icecream! (the best icecream in the world!)

It’s a great way to spend a few hours outside the office/home :)
I’ve actually thought of starting a blog on Central Chidlom food hall as every time I visit the supermarket in Bangkok just keeps on getting better. The biggest improvements lately are: Cream – They have started selling think and extra thick cream! I can now put the 20 vanilla pods I ordered from ebay 6 months ago to good use! If you like smoothies and fruit juice, I highly recommend checking out “real Simple” fruit smoothies, the mango Varity is excellent. Red and white cherry’s are also now on sale, white being my preferred choice! I’ve noticed there’s also a lot more Japanese food in Central… one fridge cabinet has Japanese apples and apple juice at 500b ($16) per bottle – Has anyone tried this, any good? Apart from the sale of Cream, the best additional item for sale is organic eggs – They taste soooo much better!

As I’m talking about food, the pork sausages from the Oriental shop are the best I’ve had in Thailand!

When will Thailand do something about babies with no helmets on motobikes? Driving on a motorbike in Bangkok is dangerous enough, let alone driving along with a small child holding onto the handle bars in between the driver’s arms… this sight always makes me cringe. As I’m talking about motobikes, why on earth do the police enforce the drivers to wear a helmet but not the passenger?

Matt is the guy who created Wordpress turns 24 years old! It’s amazing what he has achieved at such a young age. I admit, I’m a little envious :)
As most of you know, I’m a huge Wordpress fan, in fact, I transfered 80% of my sites (400+) over to the Wordpress platform. I view hundreds of Wordpress themes and plugins on a daily basis so I decided to create a blog to use as a reference, feel free to check out Hot Wordpress Themes for my picks on the best Wordpress themes and plugins!

Talking of blogs, I very rarely set up and edit blog themes anymore so after I had an idea to interview bloggers who travel (I enjoy reading bloggers who cover their adventure travels) I decided to get my hands dirty and created a blog called Personal Travel Blogs. If you have a travel blog and would like a link and (maybe?) some exposure, feel free to use the submit page and I’ll add a post for you. I also designed the header image myself… I’ve had a lot of good feedback on that header image so far… maybe I’m in the wrong position? :)
View From Office, a blog I started a while back collecting people’s office views got a little make over last week, and I’m pleased to confirm I have now started adding the hundreds of office view’s submitted over the last 6 months. I’m pleased to see some big brand name companies have taken part in the project such as Sony, Google and Yahoo!

My client Richard who up-dates an environmental friendly blog from his mansion in the middle of a Chinag Mai jungle has been writing some quality posts recently, he also has a photo competition worth checking out. Also, I highly recommend checking out his Virtual Photo Booth - I had alot of fun with my team mates with this last week!

Lastly, my team mate at work started her blog a couple of months ago and has some interesting topics on her thoughts about life as a Thai lady living in Bangkok. Check out Alitta.net
