Launching Base Sites

As most long time readers will know, I’ve recently opened an office and employed some team members to help further build my on-line empire. I haven’t really talked much about what my new office is all about for a number of reasons, the main one being that I don’t like building hype about stuff that’s in the pipe line, I much rather build the buzz when the product rocks!

The new office will handle various different projects with the main bulk of our resources working on building some on-line magazines. We will also work on growing a few of my existing sites while keeping very active in the on-line marketing area both on our sites and selected clients sites. Setting up a magazine is slow going: revenue, readership, advertising and branding takes time and time equals money. A way I plan to cover the costs of the magazines for the first year or so is via a business I set up called Base Sites: Content rich web sites ready for internet marketers to promote. You can find more about the story behind base sites over here.

I wrote about a site I built back in September called Top 10 In London. If you missed the post I basically outsourced various different components needed to build a fully loaded content site, then sold it. I didn’t make any profit, but I realized that if a company was structured correctly, I could generate enough profit to cover the cost of building some on-line magazines.

It’s been a crazy journey from that blog post in September to today. In only 4 months, I feel like I’ve done a years worth of work, and have also learnt a years worth of business know-how. It’s been fun… mixed with a few other feelings :)
So today, I’m launching Base Sites: A service whereby you can order custom or off the shelf web sites filled with great unique content, enhanced with some beautiful graphic design with some well structured SEO… all built with my fav CMS: Wordpress.
