Military coup in Bangers

Last night I had BBC World on my TV and noticed that there was a problem in Bangers. Thailand had announced a public state of an emergency due to the military seizing power and enforcing troops onto the streets of Bangkok. I started to worry a little, thinking that when I woke up I wouldn’t be allowed out of my apartment, soldiers with guns and tanks everywhere on the streets.

When I woke up, I was happy to see no tanks and soldiers in my neighbourhood. I went out to the food stall where I always get a coffee and my breakfast, and everyone seemed normal and were not that worried. They were joking that they wanted a picture of them standing next to the army and tanks.

I made a call to my staff and had a brief chat to them, and was surprised to hear everyone was in the office waiting for me, as today had been declared a national holiday. They complained that the office had no air con so I gave them the day off.

I’m interested in seeing what unfolds here over the next week, especially areas that effect me – Business opening and most important, the exchange rate.

I’ll keep you up posted.
