I can still clearly remember sitting on a beach on Koh Samui trying to persuade my friend to quit his job in England to come and move over here with me. As our holiday come to an end, I knew that moving to Thailand was right for me. I guess my persuasive skills were not that good, as my friend declined, so I decided to move to Thailand alone. Looking back, it was probably one of the craziest and bravest decisions I have ever made.
Within 5 days of returning home, I had quit my job, walked away from a 5 year relationship, sold my car and emptied out my apartment. Less than a week later, I was back at the small hotel on Koh Samui, staring down at my 2 bags, wondering what the fuck I had just done.
3-4 years later and I’m still here. I’ve opened up 3 offices that didn’t work out, lived in 3 different provinces and have more great memories than I could have ever hoped for. It’s been an awesome journey.
It’s time for change.
For me to grow both in business and in my personal life, I need new challenges, meet new people, and I need to learn and explore new opportunities. I’m now at a stage where I feel like I have learned enough about Thai culture, Thai language and Thai people that it’s time to learn from somewhere new.
My aim now is to stay homeless for the whole year so I’m forced to keep moving, learning and networking. I’m planning most of my travels around trade shows and conferences, so I’ll get the chance to network with people I’ve not met before, while keeping my eyes and ears open for new opportunities.
The next 6 months are going to be busy. I arrived in Vietnam yesterday and I’m going to spend the month here chilling out stuffing my cake-hole with seafood! Then I’m off to China for 2 trade shows and to meet some business friends. Then I may end up in Europe for another trade. I’m also eyeing up the World Series Of Poker in June. From there on out, it’s any ones guess.

Best of luck with your travels, hope you get what you want from it. Should be an good adventure. You never know, u may end up back in Thailand once you settle down again.

You are so right. I see so many xpats let their life slip away in Thailand… There’s more to life outside the land of smiles!
Good luck man. Its hard for me to read your blog while Im here in the states grounded for the moment.
Hi boss, I hope you can still remember me. I wish you the best luck and success with every steps you are going to. We haven’t met each other for a very long time since we have departed. You are still my friend and also my boss even I am not your employee anymore. I hope sometime we could meet and drink and have some fun together. Thank you for our good time.
I have no idea how brave you were until your story has been revealed here by yourself. You have much more courage than me. If I were you, I wouldn’t do such a risk to my life for sure.
If the god wish, we may have a chance to meet. I have many story to tell you.
Again, best luck and farewell.

How could I forget you A?
I was with Pe the other day in Rayong and asked about you… I hear you are doing very well on your own now. That’s great news… I knew you would make it by yourself from the first day I met you.
Take care mate, and keep in touch!
Chris
