To whom this may concern,

Having spent the last 3 years operating a company in Thailand and contributing to the Thai economy, I have decided to take a year off during 2009 to study cookery, in particular: Classic French Cuisine and Patisserie.

After some research online for an institution that meets my requirements, I come across your culinary school and was impressed to learn that you offer exactly what I am seeking for. Your programs would allow me to expand my knowledge in gastronomy and your location along with your credentials sound like a perfect fit.

After reading through your literature and tuition fees, I would like to gain a better understanding of why you require an additional 90,000b ($2,600) for your Grand Diploma course ($13,000) due to the fact that I’m not a Thai national. Please can you confirm why international students are required to pay an additional 16% compared to Thai nationals?

If this is due to supplying additional resources to handle international students that are unable to communicate in Thai, I would like to point out that my Thai is at an intermediate level and I have no problems with being placed in a Thai only speaking environment.

I look forward to your reply.

I wonder what their response will be?

Writing the letter in Thai might prove your point a bit more (plus, then they might actually bother to read it!)

Whatever you do, do not go there. Google “SF Weekly + Burnt chefs”
