Pizza Patio in Bangkok makes the best Pizza I’ve ever had

Pizza

Could this be the best pizza in the world?

Parma ham, mozzarella and mascarpone cheese Pizza from a small pizza chain called Pizza Patio is by far the best pizza I’ve ever eaten.

The crisp thin pizza base, the home made rich tomato reduction used as the sauce, which is generously topped with mozzarella cheese and slashings of salty Parma ham…. along the star ingredient that makes this pizza stand out from the thousands of other pizzas I’ve eaten around the world: Mascarpone cheese. Adding Mascarpone cheese adds a layer of richness to the pizza…. it somehow makes it sophisticated, classy, warm, gooey and yummy all at the same time.

I’m always let down whenever I have pizza elsewhere, so this is the only pizza company that I know of who adds Mascarpone cheese. If you are based in Bangkok and have not tried this pizza before, please do. You are missing out if you don’t.

Pizza Patio has 6 branches in Bangkok. 3 in Sukemvit, 1 in Silom and 2 more I’m unsure of. In the Silom branch, you can eat in the resturant, although pizza should really be eaten at home while watching a movie in my opinion!

Click this link to view one side of the menu, and this link for the other side. The contact details are at the bottom of the menu. Crazy as it is, they don’t have a website.

Also – right now they have a buy one get one free promotion on until the next month :)

Where’s the best pizza you’ve ever had?

Looks nice but I love dominoes pizza. The thing is, like Jamie Oliver says, it’s terribly salty if you buy pizza out, so better not eat your way towards a stroke, and cook your own! :)

Cooking your own Pizza at home is very hard to do. A conventional home oven just doesn’t get hot enough so the base doesn’t get super duper crispy :)

      • I don’t know, Chris. My wife made pizza the other day – her first go. It was surprisingly good. But it’s true that her second effort got over-baked on the base because she was worried about under-cooking. Still not bad once we hacked off the charred underside!

The best pizza in the world, hands down, is from Lombardi’s in NYC (Little Italy). Fresh buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil, a clean tomato sauce, thin crispy crust and heavenly pepperoni all cooked in a coal fired oven, it doesn’t get any better than this! Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn is a very good second choice from the Big Apple. Pizza Patio is good, but Lomardi’s and Grimaldi’s are other worldly.

    Hi Chris.

Your right about that combination of mascarpone and parma ham. You need to balance the saltyness of the parma ham, and the mild and creamy mascarpone does that perfectly. If you like that type of pizza you should try one of the white pizzas from Big Pizza (www.pizzadeliverybangkok.com – 02 663 1330). Those are made with a light white sauce base. Added to this are cheeses like gorgonzola, gruyere and grand padano/parmesan. They are creamy and cheesy but very different to Pizza Patio. Pepperoni added if you like the salty taste (substitute with anchovy/capers etc, or have milano ham or crispy bacon/smoked chicken etc.

They have an unlimited toppings offer on their website so you can pretty much order whatever you want.

Let me know what you think and good luck with the travels!

    Mikey

Hi I can just add to the Mascarpone experience, I ate a Pizza in Pisa/Italy this summer that had Mascarpone and Salscicca and it was very nice and those 2 ingrediences made a nice combo in the mouth.
    //Cheers
