Scared to travel
I’ve had a couple of conversations since I have been back to the UK why people don’t go travelling around the world. Each person confirmed it was because they are scared.
Why are they scared? I asked them but they couldn’t tell me. This got me thinking. I’m guessing it’s because they don’t want to break out of the routine. They are comfortable with the same daily routine, probably because it’s easy. Commitments could be another reason they are scared to travel. It’s not easy leaving a job you like, selling your house and leaving friends and family behind.
For me, it was the best decision I have ever made – Going travelling, living and learning in another country. It has changed me for the better, the more travelling and learning I do, the more wise I become. I admit, I was scared when I first made the decision, however life is full of decisions – Just don’t be scared of them.
Why do you think people are scared to travel?

Scared to travel? wow.. I guess people just have no idea what they are missing. Maybe they never travelled as kids or teenagers… sorry I can’t really understand why anyone would be scared to travel. I can’t imagine a life without travellin. My first trip was few days after I was born to the deepest jungle in PNG… Lack of time, great job, lack of finances are ok reasons.. but scared? hmmmmm

Award-winning writer (and veteran shoestring traveler) Rolf Potts shows how anyone armed with an independent spirit can achieve the dream of extended overseas travel. […]
