The best in Asia

Over the last 2 years, I have traveled through Asia extensively, including the following countries:

Thailand (Obviously!)
Cambodia
Laos
Burma
Mayalsia
Singapore
Hong Kong
Taiwan
India
Philippines
Indonesia

Here is a list, in my opinion, of the best stuff in Asia…

  • Shopping:
Depending on what time of year you go. Singapore hosts the huge sale in July that would beat any shopping in the world as all items all over the city are discounted. If you can’t make the sale, then it has to be Hong Kong. When I visited, I had never walked around so many shops in my life, I even got blisters!
  • Beach:
It has to be the beach I’m at now, Boraclay in the Philippines.
  • Scenery:
This is a tough one, but I would say the drive between Vientiane and Lump Prabang in Laos. The scenery was out of this world.
  • Back in Time:
This is a neck and neck race between Burma and Cambodia. Although Burma wins as there’s more to see, plus you have the advantage that not many tourists go there, so you get to experience the real country, rather than a tourist cover up.
    Friendliness:
This one is easy, Laos. The most friendly people I have ever come across, anywhere in the world.
  • Bar:
The Long Bar in Singapore, where they invented the Singapore Sling. If you visit Singapore, make sure you save some money to head to this bar, the bar is a legend! The bar also has a cool band on every night.

Another cool option is the vertigo bar, in Bangkok.

  • Restaurant:
This deserves a post on its own, people who know me understand my love for good food! And this all depends on what cuisine… boy this is a hard one.
Intercontenintal Hotel in Bangkok: Purely as they offer many different styles of cuisine, which is all excellent.
  • Cuisine:
Seafood, in Manila. The lobster here tastes better than in Thailand, I don’t know why. (in 2 weeks I think I’ve eaten 10 lobsters!… And I wouldn’t like to guess how much prawns I’ve eaten hahaha)
  • Hotel:
This is easy: Four Seasons in Bali, Indonesia. This hotel is rated the best hotel in the world. You get your own villa with a private pool, with freshly cooked breakfast brought to you every morning. This holiday was one of my first to Asia but still remains the best, I don’t think any holiday could come close. (This is due to the company I had with me, along with the outstanding hotel.)
  • Nightlife:
Bangkok or Koh Pang Nang (Where they have the full moon party)
  • Value for money:
Laos. Everything is Laos is a third of the cost in Thailand.

I’m going to do this every year, to see how my list differs!
